FATrendezvous

At FATrendezvous we network, motivate and educate. They take place on the last Thursday of each month and are open to anyone who is interested. FATart does not shy away from posing unpleasant questions: What makes the access to institutions and galleries more difficult for women? Why are the pay gaps in the arts sector so huge?

Monday, September 15, 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. + Discussion and Aperitif

Female Artists and the Prejudices: An Analysis

Why are female artists often overlooked or only mentioned as "muses," even when they have created groundbreaking works? Why are they still underrepresented today?

These questions deeply preoccupied me – and they became the starting point for my Matura project "Uncanonically Genius – Female Artists and the Prejudices in Art. An Analysis."

Over nine months, I investigated how gender-specific prejudices influence the recognition and visibility of female artists and their art. Through extensive literature research and interviews with three Swiss artists and two experts, including Ursina Gabriela Roesch, I was able to explore this key question and gain valuable insights. The result is a work that is intended to stimulate thought and open up discussion. Since this topic is personally close to my heart, I look forward to sharing my insights – and to jointly questioning who is visible in art and why.
